Sunday Club and the Parent / Toddler Group

Report on this Term's Activities during Sunday Club
The summer term ended on a grey and overcast Sunday in July, with a picnic in the vicarage gardened attended by a few redoubtable souls, well wrapped against the elements - the children were impervious to the cold! At two oclock The Seven Up Club put on a short play to the delight of an audience of forty parents, friends and supportive members of the congregation. Village Mystery was performed with gusto: the children had learnt their lines and did their best to remember to face the audience when delivering them! When wed chosen a winter setting for the play some weeks previously wed little imagined that Walking In The Air, played on handbells wouldnt seem an inappropriate in mid summer it really was a chilly day!
The summer term saw the welcome addition of several new families and an increase in our membership, which now stands at fifty-nine children. In the earlier part of the term the children enjoyed Pentecost and released red and white balloons into the sky at the end of the service. They thought about how best to describe The Trinity, on Trinity Sunday, and the older children explored the strength of the shape of a triangle. They learnt several Old Testament stories through topic work - Abraham and Joseph each spanned three weeks. We concluded with and Daniel In the Lions Den and thought about the simple honesty and strength of Daniels faith.
With continuing thanks to those who help with Sunday Club and to the congregation who make the families feel welcome and part of our church family. It has been very heartening this year to have so many baptisms from those who attend Sunday Club and there are more to come during the autumn. With thanks to all for your prayers and goodwill,

Parent and Toddler Group
We meet on Thursday mornings from ten oclock to half-past eleven in the Pauling Room. We currently have twenty- eight children on our register from babes in arms to four year olds.
Our equipment has increased throughout our first year and is appreciated by the children and parents. The children are encouraged to interact, share and play happily with an impressive variety of toys and activities. We break part way through the morning for a shared session of healthy snacks fruit and drinks for the children and warm drinks for the parents: the children sit at low tables and are gently encouraged to share. As the children love singing we bring each morning to an end with traditional rhymes, songs and actions and prayers: this takes place in church on the first Sunday of the month. We continue to meet throughout the summer holidays and promise new families the warmest of welcomes.
