ST JOHN’S CHURCH ACTIVITIES

St John’s Sunday Club
Ailsa Jones, tel. 733420
Geoffrey Daintree, tel. 721105
The Sunday Club meets each Sunday at 9.30 am during term time. Following our start in church we divide into groups according to age, for worship, activities and fun. We want our children to enjoy sharing in the life of St John’s and to learn of God’s great love for each one of them.

Outreach Committee
Sheila O’Hanlon, tel. 639954
This committee aims to encourage people in the church and makes contact with the community of Meads. Events include coffee mornings, Eat ‘n Speak lunches, outings and the annual Vicarage Garden Party.

PARCHE Team
Revd Katie England, tel. 640294
PARCHE stands for Pastoral Action in Residential Care Homes for the Elderly.
We have teams of people from St John’s Church who visit a number of local residential Homes. They lead a short time of worship which includes: singing hymns, reading the Bible, talking and praying with residents.

Home Groups
Revd Peter Pickett, tel. 731709
We meet regularly in various homes to study the Bible and relate our understanding to our lives. Everyone is very welcome.

St John’s Lunch Club
Barry and Barbara Shannon, tel. 721385
The Lunch Club meets on Thursdays at 12.30 pm in St John’s Parish Hall, from October to May. We provide an excellent meal and social contact. It is open to residents of Meads.

Monday Tea Pot
Mrs Viv Clapson 76333
An informal group that meets on the last Monday of each month at 3.00 pm, especially for the bereaved. Do join us for a cup of tea.

Paperback Library and Coffee Pot
John Roe (tel. 645516) and May Harris (tel. 20147)
Every Friday coffee is served from 10.00 to 11.30 am in the Parish Hall, with a paperback library available. These are pleasant opportunities to enjoy a cup of coffee in a friendly and informal atmosphere, and to borrow from a wide and interesting selection of books. Age Concern is usually present to offer computer training and advice.
